BMY 28100, a new oral cephalosporin.
BMY 28100, a new oral cephalosporin with a (Z)-propenyl side chain at the 3 position and a p-hydroxyphenylglycyl substituent at the 7 position, was evaluated in comparison with cefaclor and cephalexin and, when appropriate, ampicillin and vancomycin. In vitro, BMY 28100 was more active than the reference cephalosporins against streptococci, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Lis...
متن کاملPhase I study of single-dose BMY-28100, a new oral cephalosporin.
The objective of this Phase I study was to evaluate the safety, tolerance, and pharmacokinetics of BMY-28100 in 36 male subjects after the administration of single oral doses of 250, 500, and 1,000 mg. The subjects were divided into groups of 12 per dose group. All subjects completed the study, and BMY-28100 was well tolerated at all doses. The maximum concentration of the drug in plasma ranged...
متن کاملDisk diffusion susceptibility testing and broth microdilution quality control guidelines for BMY-28100, a new orally administered cephalosporin.
The BMY-28100 30-micrograms-disk test was evaluated by using 615 clinical isolates. Regression analyses and error rates were determined, leading to the recommendation of greater than or equal to 18-mm zone diameters (MIC correlate, greater than or equal to 8.0 micrograms/ml) for susceptibility and less than or equal to 14-mm zone diameters (MIC correlate, greater than or equal to 32 micrograms/...
متن کاملIn vitro studies of BMY-28142, a new broad-spectrum cephalosporin.
BMY-28142 was compared with other broad-spectrum antibiotics against gram-positive cocci and gram-negative bacilli. BMY-28142 was highly active against all gram-negative bacilli and especially against Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, and Morganella morganii. Its in vitro activity suggests that BMY-28142 should prove to be useful for the treatment of gram-negative bacillary infections.
متن کاملIn vitro studies with cefaclor, a new oral cephalosporin.
In vitro studies were performed to evaluate the activity of cefaclor in comparison with cephalexin against 180 clinical isolates. Broth dilution susceptibility tests showed cefaclor to be 4- to 16-fold more active than cephalexin against Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, and cephalothin-susceptible Enterobacteriaceae. Neither drug was highly active against cephalothin-resistant ...
